Rödental is a town located in northern Bavaria, Germany. It is about 7 kilometers (4.3 miles) northeast of the city of Coburg. The name Rödental means "valley of the Röden River."
This town was formed in 1971 when several smaller communities decided to join together. These communities included Mönchröden, Oeslau, Einberg, Oberwohlsbach, and Unterwohlsbach.

History of Rödental
The Oldest Part: Mönchröden
The oldest part of Rödental is a place called Mönchröden. It was founded a very long time ago, in the year 1108. The name Mönchröden means "monks along the Röden river."
This area is home to a monastery that is over 900 years old. A monastery is a place where monks live and work. This old building is still in very good condition today. It has many parts built in the Gothic style, which was popular in the Middle Ages.
Oeslau and its Famous Factory
Oeslau is the largest of the communities that make up Rödental. It is well-known for being the home of the W. Goebel Porzellanfabrik. This is a famous factory that makes beautiful porcelain items. Porcelain is a type of fine ceramic material, often used for dishes, figures, and decorative art.
Geography and Location
Rödental is situated in the district of Coburg. It is part of the Upper Franconia region in the state of Bavaria. The town is about 350 meters (1,148 feet) above sea level. It covers an area of nearly 50 square kilometers (19 square miles).
Local Government
Like many towns, Rödental has a local government that helps run things. The town is divided into 16 smaller parts called Stadtteile, which are like neighborhoods or districts. The current mayor of Rödental is Marco Steiner. He belongs to a political group called FW.
