Sándor Demján (born May 14, 1943 – died March 26, 2018) was a very successful Hungarian businessman. He was known as an entrepreneur, which means he started and managed many businesses. According to Forbes magazine, he was once the second richest person in Hungary. He was also the chairman of a big company called TriGránit.

Early Life and Education
Sándor Demján was born in a place called Börvely. At that time, it was part of the Kingdom of Hungary. Today, this area is in Romania.
His father was from a group of people called Székelys. He moved to Börvely in 1940. Sadly, his father was killed during World War II. Sándor's mother was from a group called Danube Swabians. She had to move to Börvely because of the war.
Sándor was very smart and received a scholarship. This helped him go to college. In 1965, he graduated from the College of Commerce, Catering and Tourism. He studied business administration there.
Building a Business Career
Sándor Demján had a long and impressive career in business. He started as the president of Gorsium ÁFÉSZ in 1968. He held this position until 1973.
From 1973 to 1986, he was a co-CEO of a joint company. This means he helped lead a business that was a partnership between two or more groups.
Leading Hungarian Banks
From 1986 to 1990, Sándor was the president of the Hungarian Credit Bank. He was also one of the people who helped start this bank. After that, he became involved with the Central European Development Corporation in 1990. In 1991, he was the CEO of the Central European Investment Company.
Developing Big Projects
Sándor Demján was known for developing many large and important buildings. In 1996, he opened several big projects. These included the Bank Center, the Granite Pole, and the Pólus Center.
Also in 1996, he became the chairman of TriGránit. This company is famous for building large shopping centers and office buildings.
Some of the major projects he opened include:
- The WestEnd City Center in 1999. This is a very popular shopping mall.
- The Polus City Center in Bratislava, Slovakia, in 2000.
- The Silesia City Center in Katowice, Poland, in 2005.
Philanthropy and Influence
Sándor Demján also cared about helping his country. In 2003, he started the Prima Primissima Award. This award helps protect Hungarian achievements in thinking and ideas. It also supports science, arts, and culture in Hungary.
In 2012, he decided to give a large part of his money to charity. This shows his commitment to giving back to society.
In 2014, Sándor Demján announced he would slowly retire from business. He wanted to pass on the leadership of his companies. He was 71 years old at the time. In the same year, he was named the sixth most influential person in Hungary.
Later Years
Sándor Demján passed away on March 26, 2018. He was 74 years old.
