Mount Süphan is a very tall mountain in eastern Turkey. It's known as a stratovolcano, which is a type of volcano shaped like a cone. Mount Süphan stands right north of a large lake called Lake Van. It's actually the second highest volcano in all of Turkey!
The mountain has different names depending on the language. In Armenian, it's called Sipan, and in Turkish, it's Süphan Dağı. The Kurdish name is Sîpana Xelatê, and sometimes it's also called "Ciyaye Sipan," which means "White/s" or "Aryan/s" in Kurdish.

What is Mount Süphan?
Mount Süphan is a stratovolcano. This means it's a volcano built up over many years by layers of hardened lava, ash, and rocks. These volcanoes often have a steep, cone-like shape and a crater at the top. They are known for their powerful, explosive eruptions.

Mount Süphan reaches an amazing height of 4,058 meters (about 13,314 feet) above sea level. This makes it one of the tallest peaks in Turkey. Its height also makes it an "ultra-prominent peak," which means it stands out a lot from the land around it.

Even though it's a volcano, Mount Süphan hasn't erupted in a very long time. Its last known eruption was around 8050 BC. That's over 10,000 years ago! This means it's considered a dormant volcano, not an active one.
