S'Espalmador is just north of Formentera. A shallow sandbar connects the two islands. When the tide is low, you can even walk between them! Many people visit the area by canoe or yacht. They often travel between Ibiza and Formentera. The island has beautiful, clean beaches. It also has natural freshwater springs and a fun mud-bath.

North of S'Espalmador is a smaller island called Illa des Porcs. This name means "Pig Island." The En Pou lighthouse was built on Illa des Porcs in 1861. It helps guide ships through the Es Freus strait, which is between S'Espalmador and Ibiza.

The Cinnamond family owned S'Espalmador for a long time. They bought it in 1932 for a very small amount of money. In March 2018, the family sold the island. Two brothers from Belgium, Christian and Jean Cigrang, bought it. They paid about €18 million for the island. The government of Formentera had also tried to buy it.
