Saúl's Football Journey
Saúl was born in Vioño de Piélagos, a town in Spain. He started playing football at a young age.
Early Years at Racing de Santander
Saúl joined the youth team of Racing de Santander in 2004 when he was nine years old. He worked his way up through the club's system. In the 2012–13 season, he played his first senior games for Racing's reserve team, called Racing B.
In the summer of 2013, Saúl was moved up to the main Racing de Santander team. This happened after both the main and reserve teams were moved down a division.
Playing in Segunda División
Saúl played 34 matches in the 2013–14 season. His team, Racing de Santander, was promoted back to the Segunda División (the second tier of Spanish football) right away. On August 24, he played his first professional match in this league.
Moving to Deportivo La Coruña
On December 29, 2014, Saúl signed a contract with Deportivo de La Coruña, a team in La Liga (Spain's top football league). He was loaned back to Racing de Santander until the end of that season.
After playing only two cup matches for Deportivo, he was loaned to CD Tenerife in January 2016. He stayed there until June.

- RCD Mallorca: On January 2, 2017, he moved to RCD Mallorca on another loan until June.

Saúl returned to Deportivo La Coruña for the 2018–19 season. He became a regular player for the team.
On June 27, 2019, he signed a four-year contract with Deportivo Alavés, a team in La Liga. However, he was then loaned to Rayo Vallecano in the second division on September 2.
