Sabanilla is a cool place in Costa Rica. It's a special area called a district. Sabanilla is part of the Alajuela canton, which is like a county. This canton is located in the Alajuela province, similar to a state.
Sabanilla town is about 12 kilometers (about 7.5 miles) north of the center of Alajuela. The district covers an area of about 43 square kilometers. In 2011, around 9,059 people lived there. Sabanilla is well-known for growing coffee, and it's home to Doka Estate, which even supplies coffee to Starbucks! Another exciting activity here is motocross. Sabanilla has one of the most important motocross tracks in Costa Rica, called La Olla del Poás, or La Fergara by the locals.
