Safety Patrol is a fun Disney TV movie from 1998. It's all about a middle school student named Scout Bozell. He really wants to join his school's safety patrol, who are like helpful hall monitors. The movie first showed on ABC and was later rerun on the Disney Channel. You could also find it on VHS tapes back then!

The Story of Safety Patrol
Scout Bozell has a big dream: he wants to be part of the safety patrol at Rockridge Middle School. The problem is, Scout is super clumsy! He often causes accidents without meaning to.
Scout's Big Mishap
At the start of the movie, Scout tries to pick up a banana peel. But then, a kid trips over his backpack. Marbles roll everywhere, and other kids slip. A lunchbox flies off and hits the principal! Scout then accidentally knocks a kid off his bike. This causes a chain reaction! It ends with a plastic squirrel hitting a truck. The truck is full of giant frozen tuna. These tuna slide onto the road. They cause a funny accident for the last safety patrol member, Joe Lobes. He gets really shaken up! This means the safety patrol list is gone until he feels better.
The teachers want Principal Tromp to let Scout join. He's the only one left on the list! Principal Tromp agrees, but he changes the school boundaries. This sends Scout to Laurelview Middle School instead.
Trouble at Laurelview Middle School
Laurelview Middle School has a big problem: things are being stolen! The people doing it are Mrs. Day, the lunch lady, and Mr. Miller, the janitor. They work with the school's safety patrol. This patrol is actually a group of bullies! Their leader is Kent Marlowe, the principal's son.
When the safety patrol is introduced, Scout cheers loudly. He yells, "Go safeties!" But all the other kids say it like they want them to leave. This makes the safety patrol angry. Scout also meets new friends: T'Boo, Lefty (who is right-handed!), Red, Walt Whitman, Lucky, and Hannah Zapruder. Hannah is even a cheerleader! Later, we learn T'Boo is scared of frogs. This happened after a funny incident in his biology class.
Scout Gets Framed
Meanwhile, Scout's grandpa has some bumps and bruises. This is because Scout accidentally knocked him off a ladder. Mrs. Marlowe, the principal, finds out a safety patrol member is involved in the thefts. Kent, Mrs. Day, and Mr. Miller need someone to blame. So, they make Scout a safety patrol member. Mr. Miller and Kent don't like Scout.
At a school ceremony, Hannah is giving a speech. Kent gives a lighter and a key to Mrs. Marlowe's office to Mr. Miller and Mrs. Day. They then secretly put them in Scout's pocket. Later, Scout finds Mrs. Marlowe's office on fire! He puts out the fire and saves a hamster. But when the key and lighter fall from his pocket, it looks like Scout started the fire! He gets kicked off the safety patrol. He's also not allowed to go to the Fall Ball.
Finding the Truth
Hannah and her friends are sure Scout was set up. Hannah's dad is looking through a tape. He, Hannah, Scout, and the others watch the ceremony. They see Kent, Mr. Miller, and Mrs. Day planting the key and lighter on Scout! Scout, Hannah, T'Boo, and the others soon find out who Mr. Miller and Mrs. Day really are. They are a mother-and-son team of thieves, Georgina and Tim Bartlett! They are the ones stealing things from the school.
The Fall Ball Showdown
The group goes to the Fall Ball. They give the tape to Weird Al Yankovic. He plays the tape, and everyone sees Kent and his group starting the fire! Tim and Georgina try to rob a tent. But they get caught! So, they take Hannah with them in a hot air balloon. It's Weird Al's balloon!
Scout goes after them to stop them. Hannah throws a bag of money over the side. Tim jumps off, holding onto the edge. Scout tries to save him. But Tim won't let go of the money to take Scout's hand. He falls, but he lands safely in a small puddle of water. Hannah then threatens to throw more money off the balloon. This makes Georgina land the balloon. It crashes, and Georgina falls into a hole. She's hanging onto the edge! Scout and the others save her from falling. During this, T'Boo sees a frog. But he seems to get over his fear! After all this, the Bartletts are arrested.
Happy Endings
Scout gets back on the safety patrol. He is even named captain by his hero, John Walsh. Kent and his group are replaced by T'Boo, Hannah, Red, Walt, Lucky, and Lefty. Grandpa Bozell gets completely better. But then he has another funny accident! He crashes through a door because of a floor waxer. It seemed to come to life earlier in the movie after Scout plugged it in. Mr. Zapruder seems to record this for a TV show. But his camera has no tape in it!
