Antoine Ashley (born December 17, 1984 – died October 1, 2012) was an American performer. He was best known by his stage name, Sahara Davenport. Sahara was a talented drag queen, singer, and dancer. She became well-known after appearing on the TV show RuPaul's Drag Race.

Sahara Davenport on RuPaul's Drag Race

Sahara Davenport was a contestant on the second season of RuPaul's Drag Race in 2010. This popular TV show searches for America's next drag superstar. Sahara was eliminated in the sixth episode of her season. The judges felt she didn't show enough of a "rock 'n' roll" attitude.

After Sahara's passing, the first season of RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars aired. This season featured her partner, Manila Luzon, as a contestant. The very first episode of All Stars was dedicated to Sahara's memory.

Other performers connected to Sahara also appeared on the show. Her "drag sister," Kennedy Davenport, competed on season 7 and later on season 3. Kennedy even placed as a runner-up. Sahara's "drag niece," Honey Davenport, also competed on the 11th season of Drag Race.

Sahara's Music Career

In 2011, Sahara Davenport released her second song, "Go Off." This song was very popular with fans. A special remix version of "Go Off" came out on January 31, 2012. It included a remix by a famous DJ named Manny Lehman.

"Go Off" did very well on the music charts. It reached number fifty on the Billboard Hot Dance Club Songs chart. Later, it climbed even higher, peaking at number thirty-five. The music video for "Go Off" was also fun to watch. It featured special appearances by other Drag Race contestants, Manila Luzon and Jiggly Caliente.

Antoine Ashley, known as Sahara Davenport, was born on December 17, 1984. His mother was Angela Ashley Reddish. Sahara lived in New York City with her partner, Karl Westerberg. Karl is also a drag queen, known by his stage name Manila Luzon. Manila was a contestant on the third season of RuPaul's Drag Race.

Sahara Davenport passed away on October 1, 2012. She was 27 years old. Her death was caused by heart failure. She passed away at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore.
