River's Location and Flow
The Saint-Étienne River is found in the Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean region of Quebec. It's a small river, only about 4.8 km (3.0 mi) long.
Where the River Starts
The Saint-Étienne River begins at a place called Lac des Côtes. This lake is about 132 m (433 ft) above sea level.
The source of the river is:
- 3.8 km (2.4 mi) south of where it meets the Saguenay River.
- 10.2 km (6.3 mi) southeast of the village of Petit-Saguenay.
River's Journey
From Lac des Côtes, the Saint-Étienne River flows mostly north.
- For about 2.9 km (1.8 mi), it flows through a narrow valley.
- Then, for 1.5 km (0.93 mi), it continues north, passing by Lac Fidelin.
- The last 0.4 km (0.25 mi) of the river flows through the Saguenay Fjord National Park.
