Saint-Augustin-de-Desmaures is a city in central Quebec, Canada. It is located right next to Quebec City on the Saint Lawrence River.
The city was first settled in 1679. Three families, Desroches, Racette, and Couture, officially founded the town in 1691.
In 2002, Saint-Augustin-de-Desmaures joined Quebec City. It became part of Quebec City's Laurentien area. However, people voted in 2004 to become a separate city again. So, on January 1, 2006, it became its own city once more.
The local post office has changed its name a few times. It was called Saint-Augustin-de-Portneuf from 1852. Then, in 1918, it became Saint-Augustin-de-Québec. Finally, in 1986, it got its current name.
