About the Saint-Georges River

Where the River Flows

The Saint-Georges River starts near the village of Sainte-Agathe-de-Lotbinière. It begins in an area where there are many small streams from farms and forests. This starting point is north of the Bécancour River.

The river flows for about 2.8 kilometres (1.7 mi) (that's almost 3 kilometers!). It travels towards the northwest. Along its path, the river drops about 14 metres (46 ft) in height. This drop means the water flows downhill, making its way to a larger river.

Meeting the Chêne River

The Saint-Georges River eventually joins the Chêne River. This meeting point is called a "confluence." It happens on the south side of the Chêne River. The confluence is about 3.1 kilometres (1.9 mi) northeast of the center of Sainte-Agathe-de-Lotbinière village.

Neighboring River Areas

A river's "watershed" is all the land where water drains into that river. The Saint-Georges River has several important neighbors in terms of watersheds:

River's Name
