Saint-Louis Region facts for kids
Saint-Louis is a special area, called a region, in the northern part of Senegal. It's like a big province or state. The main city and capital of this region is also called Saint-Louis. This region is right next to the country of Mauritania, sharing a border with it.
In 2013, about 870,629 people lived in the Saint-Louis Region. It covers a large area of about 19,241 square kilometers (or 7,429 square miles).
What are the Départements?
The Saint-Louis Region is divided into three smaller parts, which are called "départements." Think of them like counties or smaller districts within the region. Each département has its own main town.
The three départements are:

- Podor Département
- Saint-Louis Département
