Saint-Paul is a large town in Réunion, a French island far away in the Indian Ocean. It is the second-biggest town on the island. Saint-Paul is located on the very west side of Réunion. It is a special type of French town called a "commune." Réunion itself is an "overseas department," which means it is part of France even though it's not in Europe.

Famous Pirate's Resting Place
Saint-Paul is known for its old cemetery, the Cimetière marin de Saint-Paul. This cemetery is the traditional burial place of a very famous French pirate named Olivier Levasseur. He was also called La Buse (which means "The Buzzard").
People say he hid one of the biggest treasures in pirate history. Some estimate it's worth over a billion British pounds! Besides pirates, the cemetery is also where famous writers and artists are buried. These include poets Leconte de Lisle and Eugène Dayot, and the painter Arthur Grimaud.
