Wenna lived a long time ago, from around 474 AD to 544 AD. She was a queen and a very special holy person, known as a saint, in places like Cornwall and Wales. Wenna's Family and Connections
In Wales, Wenna was also known by another name: Gwen ferch Cynyr. She was the daughter of a man named Cynyr Ceinfarfog, who came from a place called Caer Goch in Pembrokeshire.
Wenna married a man named Salomon of Cornwall. Together, they had a son named Cybi.
She also had a brother who was quite famous in stories! Her brother was Sir Kay, a knight from the well-known Arthurian legends about King Arthur. Wenna also had a sister named Non, who lived in Brittany. This means Wenna was the aunt of David, who is the special patron saint (a protecting saint) of Wales.
It's important not to get Wenna confused with her aunt, who was also named Wenna! Her aunt was also a saint and started churches in Cornwall, just like our Wenna.
Some old Welsh stories about King Arthur suggest that Wenna might have grown up with King Arthur himself.
