Salares is a small town and a type of local government area called a municipality. It is located in the province of Málaga. This province is part of the Andalusia region in southern Spain.
Salares is also part of a larger area known as La Axarquía. The beautiful Sierras of Tejeda, Almijara and Alhama Natural Park is right next to the village on its eastern side. The town is about 58 kilometers (36 miles) away from the big city of Málaga. It is also 28 kilometers (17 miles) from Vélez-Málaga.
About 200 people live in Salares. The people who are from Salares are called Salareños.
