Playing Career Highlights
Early Days and First Successes
Salim Tuama grew up in the city of Lod. He started his football journey at the Gadna club because the local fields in Lod were not very good.
In the 1998–99 season, Salim became a rising star in Israeli football. He helped Hapoel Tel Aviv win their first State Cup since 1983. The very next season, 1999–2000, his team won both the league title and the State Cup, which is called a "double."
European Adventures
Salim also played a big part when Hapoel Tel Aviv reached the quarter-finals of the 2001–02 UEFA Cup. This was a huge achievement for the club. They were eventually defeated by the famous Italian team AC Milan.
After his time at Hapoel, Salim moved to Maccabi Petah Tikva. There, he helped them win the Toto Cup, which is a special competition held each year for football clubs.
Playing Abroad
Salim then got a chance to play for a Turkish club called Kayserispor. He didn't play much there, so he returned to Maccabi Petah Tikva. He helped them finish second in the league, which earned them a spot in the UEFA Cup.
In 2007, Salim signed a three-year contract with Standard Liège in Belgium. He played there for two seasons. After getting injured, he moved to the Greek team Larissa, where he scored two goals.
Return to Hapoel Tel Aviv
At the end of the 2009–10 season, Salim Tuama came back to Israel. He signed with Hapoel Tel Aviv for the third time in his career. In 2011, he scored the winning goal in a 1–0 victory against Maccabi Haifa in the Israeli State Cup final. This was another important trophy for him and the club.
Salim continued to play for Hapoel Tel Aviv until 2014. Later, he played for Hapoel Bnei Lod and Maccabi Sha'arayim. At Maccabi Sha'arayim, he also took on the role of a player-manager, meaning he played and helped manage the team at the same time.
