Sally Forrest, born Katherine Feeney (May 28, 1928 – March 15, 2015), was a talented American actress. She starred in movies, plays, and TV shows during the 1940s and 1950s. Sally loved to dance from a young age. After finishing high school, she signed a contract with the famous movie studio, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer.

Early Life and Dance Beginnings

Sally Forrest was born in San Diego, California. Her parents were Michael and Marguerite Feeney. Her father was a career officer in the United States Navy. Because of his job, the family moved often to different naval bases. They eventually settled down in San Diego.

Both of Sally's parents became ballroom dancers. They even taught dance classes. This is where Sally first started learning to dance. It became a skill she used throughout her life and career.

A Career in Film and Dance

Sally Forrest began her movie career in the 1940s. She started as a chorus dancer in big musical films made by MGM. Her first acting role was in the movie Not Wanted (1949). This film was written and produced by Ida Lupino. It talked about a difficult topic that was not often shown in Hollywood movies back then.

Sally worked with Ida Lupino on two more films: Never Fear (1949) and Hard, Fast and Beautiful (1951). She also appeared in other exciting movies called film noir. These included Mystery Street (1950) and While the City Sleeps (1956).

Because of her strong background in jazz and ballet dancing, Sally also got roles in many musicals. Some of her most notable musical films were Excuse My Dust and The Strip, both released in 1951.

Transition to Stage and TV

In 1953, Sally moved to New York with her husband, Milo Frank. He was a writer and producer who became the head of casting for CBS. After this move, Sally started working more in theatre and on television.

Later, she returned to Hollywood. She continued to work for studios like RKO and Columbia Pictures. Her last movie was RKO's While the City Sleeps in 1956. This film also starred Dana Andrews, Rhonda Fleming, Vincent Price, and her frequent collaborator, Ida Lupino.

Personal Life

Sally Forrest married Milo Frank in 1951. They did not have any children. They stayed married until Milo passed away in 2004.

Sally Forrest died from cancer on March 15, 2015. She was 86 years old and passed away at her home in Beverly Hills, California.
