About Sam Sneed

Early Career and Music

In 1993, Sam Sneed joined Death Row Records, a famous music label. He released a single called "U Better Recognize" in 1994, which featured Dr. Dre. This song was part of the ... Was the Case soundtrack. It did well on music charts, reaching #16 on the Hot Dance Music/Maxi-Singles Sales chart.

Sam Sneed became known for his catchy phrase, "My name is Sam Sneed, you better recognize!" He famously said this at the beginning of "Pump Pump," a song on Snoop Dogg's first album, Doggystyle. He also appeared in the movie ... Was the Case, which was connected to Death Row Records.

Sam Sneed also helped produce popular songs like "Keep Their Heads Ringin'" and "Natural Born ..." with Dr. Dre. The song "Natural Born ..." was originally planned as a song for Sam Sneed and J-Flexx, called "The Heist." This early version, with a verse from Sam Sneed, was released later in 2009.

Later Work and Recovery

In 1996, Sam Sneed recorded an album with his group Street Scholars for Death Row Records. This album featured artists like J-Flexx and Dr.Dre, but it was never officially released at that time.

In 1999, Sam Sneed was diagnosed with a brain tumor. This health issue caused him to pause his music career. However, he recovered and returned to producing hip-hop music. Since then, he has produced songs for many artists, including G-Unit, Scarface, and Jay-Z.

Around 2007, Sam Sneed worked with Dr. Dre again, but no new music came out from that collaboration. He later started a new company called Nustarz Entertainment with his business partner, Craig "Stretch" Mason. This company helps new artists like The Boy Goldy, Money Ink, and British rapper Nat Powers.

In 2010, Death Row/WIDEawake Entertainment announced that Sam Sneed's album Street Scholars would be released on January 25, 2011. This album included four songs from his time at Death Row that had never been released before, along with 10 new songs.
