Samborombón is a small, quiet community in the countryside of Argentina. It is located in the Buenos Aires Province, within an area called Brandsen Partido. You can find it about 90 kilometers (56 miles) along Route 2. The name Samborombón comes from "San Borondón," which is the Spanish name for St. Brendan.
How Many People Live Here?
Samborombón is a very small place. According to the last official count in 2001, only 198 people lived there. This makes it a truly tiny rural community.
Are There Two Samborombóns?
Yes, it can be a bit confusing! There are actually two places named Samborombón, and they are sometimes mixed up. About 10 kilometers (6 miles) southwest of Brandsen, there's another spot also called Samborombón. This second place is near an old road that used to connect Brandsen with Ranchos. At this other Samborombón, you can find an old, unused train station from the former Buenos Aires Province railway. There's also a school (School No. 16 of Brandsen District) and just a few houses. So, when someone mentions Samborombón, it's good to check which one they mean!
