Sammy Adjei's Club Football Journey
Sammy Adjei started his football journey in his home city of Accra, Ghana. He played for a club called Hearts of Oak. In 2005, he moved to Club Africain in Tunisia. This move was a big step in his career.
Returning to Hearts of Oak
After playing for Club Africain, Sammy returned to his old club, Hearts of Oak, in 2008. He signed a one-year contract. He hoped this would help him get back into the Ghana national team. In 2009, he also tried out for a club in South Africa called Maritzburg United.
Playing for His Country: Ghana National Team
Sammy Adjei was the main goalkeeper for the Ghana national team until 2006. That's when another great goalkeeper, Richard Kingson, became more prominent.
Major Tournaments and Appearances
Sammy was chosen to be part of Ghana's team for the 2006 African Cup of Nations in Egypt. He also joined the squad for the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany. During the World Cup, he played in one match as a substitute when Richard Kingson got injured.
In 2007, Sammy played for Ghana in a friendly match against Austria. He got injured during the game and had to leave the field. Richard Kingson came on to replace him.
Retirement and Comeback
Sammy was called up again for the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations as the second-choice goalkeeper. After this tournament, he decided to retire from playing for his country. However, he later received another call to play for Ghana in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match against Congo.
