Samoa is found in Texas County, Missouri. It's about three miles west of a town called Yukon. You can find it close to Missouri Route 17, right on the north side of Indian Creek. A place called the Ozark Church and its cemetery are just southeast of where Samoa used to be. The larger town of Houston is about four miles to the northwest.
The History Behind Samoa's Name
Samoa got its name from the beautiful island nation of Samoa in the Pacific Ocean. A post office was opened in Samoa, Missouri, in the year 1890. This post office helped people send and receive mail for nearly 20 years. It stayed open until 1909, after which it closed down.
