Samson & Sally is a Danish animated movie from 1984. It's also known as Samson & Sally: The Song of the Whales. The film was directed by Jannik Hastrup. It's based on a book called The Song of the Whales by Bent Haller. This movie tells a fantasy story about whales and their adventures.
The Story of Samson & Sally
The movie is about a young Sperm whale named Samson. He is an albino, which means he is white. Samson strongly believes in the old stories of Moby Dick. These legends say that Moby Dick was a hero for all whales. They also say he will return one day to help them.
Samson meets Sally, a young black-and-white female sperm whale. She becomes an orphan after her family is attacked by whalers. Samson's group of whales adopts Sally. She becomes good friends with Samson, even though she doesn't believe in Moby Dick.
Samson and Sally face many dangers together. They survive attacks from killer whales. They also escape a huge oil spill and dangerous radiation. They call the whaling ships "iron beasts." Over time, Samson and Sally fall in love.
Later, Samson's mother is sadly lost to the whale hunters. This makes Samson very upset. He decides to leave Sally and his group to find Moby Dick. He hopes Moby Dick can save whales from the "iron beasts."
Samson faces many challenges, like polluted water. He finally finds Moby Dick in the underwater ruins of Atlantis. But Moby Dick is very old and weak. He is too old to even find food for himself. Samson is disappointed. He leaves to try and find his own group of whales.
During a big storm, Samson sees the whaling ship that harmed his mother. The ship is sinking, and the crew is in a small boat. The captain shoots at Samson. Samson accidentally hits their small boat, causing it to flip over. The whale hunters are then lost at sea.
After searching for days, Samson almost gives up hope. Then, he sees his group of whales in the distance! The movie ends many years later. Samson and Sally are grown-up whales. They have a son, whom Samson saves from a killer whale.
