Samuel Allen, born on April 25, 1936, is an American former professional baseball player. He played in the Negro leagues. These were special baseball leagues for African American players. They existed before baseball became fully integrated.

Allen was born in Norfolk, Virginia. During his high school years, he attended Booker T. Washington High School. He was a talented athlete there. He played both baseball and football for his school teams.

In 1957, Allen played baseball for the Kansas City Monarchs. He was a great player that year. He led the entire league in runs scored. The next year, in 1958, he played for the Raleigh Tigers. In 1959, he joined the Memphis Red Sox.

After his baseball career, Allen was drafted into the US Army in 1960. For a time, he served with the Army's 82nd Airborne division. This is a special unit known for its paratroopers.
