San Gallán Island, also known as Sangayán Island, is a Peruvian island. It is located in the Pacific Ocean. The island is about 5.2 kilometers (3.2 miles) west of the Paracas Peninsula. A narrow water channel called El Boquerón strait separates them. San Gallán Island is part of the Paracas District in the Ica Region. It is also a special part of the Paracas National Reserve.

Exploring San Gallán Island
San Gallán Island covers an area of 9.32 square kilometers (3.6 square miles). It is about 4.5 kilometers (2.8 miles) long and 3.85 kilometers (2.4 miles) wide. You can find it in the Pacific Ocean at 13º 50’ S, 76º 27’ W.
Island Features
About 0.5 kilometers (0.3 miles) northwest of the island, you can see the Mentiroso Islets. The highest point on San Gallán Island is La Viuda Hill. This hill reaches a height of 412 meters (1,352 feet).
Climate and Weather
The island has a very dry climate. This is because of the cold waters from the Humboldt Current. This ocean current brings cool air and little rain to the area.
Lighthouse on the Island
There is a lighthouse on San Gallán Island. Its light can be seen from 20 miles away. Lighthouses help ships navigate safely at sea.
