In 2013, a study counted the people living in San Jorge. Most of the people, about 97%, were Mestizo. This means they have a mix of European and Indigenous backgrounds.
A smaller number of people were Indigenous. This group included people from the Lenca and Chʼortiʼ communities. There were also some Black or Afro-Honduran people and a few White people living in San Jorge.
