San Miguel de Cozumel is the biggest city on Cozumel island in Mexico. It is located in the state of Quintana Roo. In 2010, about 77,236 people lived there. This makes it the fourth-largest community in Quintana Roo.
The city is a very important place for tourism on the Riviera Maya. It is the only place where you can catch a ferry from the Mexican mainland to the island. San Miguel de Cozumel also has the first international cruise ship terminal in Quintana Roo.

Cozumel's Busy Port
The Cozumel International Seaport is a very important part of the city. It has a large dock that can welcome big cruise ships. This dock is 271 meters long. It also has a special structure called a "dolphin" that helps ships dock safely.
How Ships Use the Port
The port is designed to handle two large cruise ships at the same time. The outer part of the dock can hold very big ships, like those that weigh 140,000 tons. The inner part can hold ships up to 85,000 tons. Smaller boats can also use a special tender dock at the terminal.
Many different types of boats visit Cozumel. Most of them are passenger ships and sailing boats. The biggest ships that have entered this port were 363 meters long. Cozumel is the fourth busiest passenger port in the world. It welcomes about 3.3 million passengers each year.
