San Pedro is a place in Houston County, Texas, United States. It is known as a ghost town, which means it used to be a community but now has very few people living there.
History of San Pedro
San Pedro started as a community in the 1840s. It had its own post office for many years. The post office was open from 1848 to 1857, and then again from 1858 to 1905.
A church, called a Presbyterian Church, was built there in 1889. By the 1930s, San Pedro had a church, a cemetery (a place where people are buried), and a few houses. As time went on, by the 1990s, most of the town was gone. Only the church, the cemetery, and a few scattered houses were left.
Where is San Pedro?
San Pedro is found next to a small stream called San Pedro Creek. It is also where two roads meet: Farm to Market Road 2022 and Farm to Market Road 2423. This spot is about 8 miles (13 kilometers) northeast of a larger town called Crockett.
