Sana'a Governorate (pronounced Sah-NAH-ah) is a large region in the country of Yemen. It is one of the many areas called "governorates" that make up Yemen. Its main city is Sana'a, which is also the capital city of Yemen.
Here's a cool fact: the city of Sana'a itself isn't actually part of the Sana'a Governorate! It's like a special, separate area called Amanat Al-Asemah. The governorate covers about 13,850 square kilometers (about 5,347 square miles). By 2011, the population grew to about 1,109,000 people.
Where is Sana'a Governorate?
Sana'a Governorate is located in the western part of Yemen. It surrounds the city of Sana'a, almost like a donut around a hole.
