A Look Back in Time
Sanchón de la Ribera was founded a long time ago, between the 10th and 12th centuries. This was when kings from the Kingdom of León were repopulating the area.
Important Buildings
The village has a historic church dedicated to Saint Christopher. He is the patron saint of the area. On the edge of the village, you can find the Hermitage of Humilladero. This small building dates back to the 17th century. It has one main room and holds a special statue called the Holy Christ of Mercy. This statue is very important to the people who live here.
There was also an old mill by the Vado stream. It is not there anymore, but it reminds us of the old activities that used to happen in the village.
Nature and Fun
About 20 kilometers (around 12 miles) from Sanchón de la Ribera is the Arribes del Duero Natural Park. This is a wonderful natural area where you can go hiking and enjoy the outdoors. It's a great place to explore nature and see beautiful landscapes.
