Making History with the National Team

A famous soccer coach named Anson Dorrance noticed Sandi. In 1987, he invited her to train with the U.S. national team. The training camp was held in Blaine, Minnesota.

Sandi played her first international game for the United States on July 9, 1987. This game was against Sweden in the 1987 North America Cup. When she played in this game, Sandi became the first Black player to be part of the U.S. women's national team. This was a very important moment in soccer history.
