Sandro Dias (born April 18, 1975), known by his cool nickname Mineirinho, is an amazing skateboarder from Brazil. He is famous for riding on big ramps, a style called "vert skateboarding." Sandro started skateboarding in 1986 and became a professional in 1995. He is known for his incredible tricks high in the air, like "alley oop air tricks" where he spins in the opposite direction of his momentum. He is also one of only a few people to have successfully landed "the 900," a trick where a skater spins two and a half times (900 degrees) in the air!

Who is Sandro Dias?

Early Life and Career

Sandro Dias was born in Santo André, Brazil. He discovered his passion for skateboarding when he was just 11 years old. After years of practice and dedication, he turned professional in 1995. This meant he could compete against the best skateboarders and make a career out of his favorite sport.

A Champion Skateboarder

Throughout his career, Sandro Dias has won many awards and titles. He is sponsored by big brands like Red Bull, Oakley, and Positiv Skateboards. This shows how respected he is in the skateboarding community.

X Games Success

Sandro has had great success at the X Games, which are like the Olympics for extreme sports. He won a gold medal in Skateboard Vert at the X Games in Los Angeles in 2006 and again in 2007. He also won gold for the "Vert Best Trick" in 2004. He has earned several silver and bronze medals too, showing his consistent performance at the highest level.

Breaking World Records

Sandro Dias is not just a champion; he's also a record-breaker! Just yesterday, on September 25, 2025, he achieved something truly amazing in Brazil.

The Amazing Drop-in

Sandro took on a unique challenge at the Fernando Ferrari Administrative Center in Porto Alegre. This is a government building that has a special curved shape, almost like a giant quarter pipe. A quarter pipe is a ramp shaped like a quarter of a circle, perfect for skateboarders to gain speed and perform tricks. Sandro performed a "drop-in," which is when a skater starts riding from the very top edge of a ramp.

Speed and Height Records

At this event, Sandro Dias broke two world records! He achieved the highest drop-in ever recorded, starting from an incredible height of 70 meters. That's taller than many buildings! He also reached the fastest speed ever on a standard skateboard during this amazing feat. Representatives from Guinness World Records were there to confirm his incredible achievements.
