Joining K.A.A. Gent

In 1993, Sandy made a big move to AA Gent. This was a team in the top league, known as the Jupiler League at the time. In his very first game for Gent, playing at home against SK Beveren, he scored a goal right away! This made him an instant favorite with the fans. Sandy continued to be one of the most important players for Gent until 1999.

Time at Club Brugge

In 1999, Sandy Martens moved to Club Brugge. This was a very successful period for him. During this time, he also started playing for the Belgian national team. His first game for Belgium was on March 27, 1999, against Bulgaria. He played his last international match for Belgium in August 2003, against Croatia.
