Club History
How the Club Started
The club began in 1911 as S.K. Aldenardia. A few years later, in 1919, it joined with another club called F.C. Audenarais. Together, they became S.V. Audenaerde. Later, the name was changed to S.V. Oudenaarde. This change used the Dutch spelling of the city's name instead of the French one. In 1951, the club was given the special right to use the royal title Koninklijke.
Journey Through the Leagues
KSV Oudenaarde joined the Belgian Football Association in 1912. They first reached the second division in 1924. However, they only stayed there for one year, finishing last.
The team returned to the second division in the 1980–81 season. This time, they did much better! They finished in seventh place, which was their best result ever. They achieved the same seventh position the next year. But in 1983, they were relegated, meaning they moved down a league.
In 1988, they finished last in the third division. This sent them down to the fourth level of Belgian football, called promotion. It took them a long time to climb back up. In 2006, Oudenaarde became champions of their promotion league. This helped them move up again.
