Sang Yoon is a famous chef and restaurant owner from South Korea, who grew up in America. He is well-known for creating popular restaurants like Father's Office and Lukshon Restaurant. He also helps run another restaurant called Two Birds One Stone. You might have even seen Chef Yoon on TV, as he was a contestant on the show Top Chef Masters.
Meet Chef Sang Yoon
Sang Yoon started his cooking journey in some of the world's most famous kitchens. He worked in fancy restaurants in Paris, New York, and Los Angeles. These places often had special awards, like Michelin stars, which show they are top-notch.
From Fine Dining to Gastropubs
In 2000, Chef Yoon decided to try something new. He took over a local bar he liked, called Father's Office. He turned it into one of the first "gastropubs" in Los Angeles. A gastropub is a pub that serves really high-quality food, not just typical bar snacks.
Father's Office became very popular. It's famous for its amazing selection of over 55 different craft beers. But what really made it famous was its special "Office Burger." Many people, including The Today Show and Esquire magazine, have called it one of the best burgers in the country!
More Restaurants and TV Appearances
Because of his success, Chef Yoon became known as an expert in craft beer. He was featured in magazines like USA Today and Food & Wine. He also appeared on National Public Radio.
Chef Yoon has been a guest judge on Bravo's Top Chef. He also competed on Top Chef Masters, showing off his cooking skills to a wide audience.
In 2011, Chef Yoon opened a new restaurant called Lukshon. This restaurant focuses on modern and traditional flavors from Southeast Asia. A famous food critic, Jonathan Gold from the LA Times, even named Lukshon one of the top restaurants in Los Angeles.
Later, in 2016, Chef Yoon opened another restaurant called Two Birds One Stone. This one is located in California's beautiful wine country. Chef Yoon says that his love for champagne and hockey helps him keep a good balance between his busy work life and his personal time.
