Sangolquí is a lively town in northern Ecuador. It is very close to Quito, which is the capital city. Sangolquí is also the main town of the Rumiñahui area. This area is part of the Pichincha region. You can easily travel between Sangolquí and Quito using the Autopista General Rumiñahui. This highway is named after a brave Inca warrior.
Sangolquí is a great place for learning. It has a famous university called ESPE. Many students consider it one of the best universities in Ecuador. The town also has several excellent high schools. These include Colegio Liceo del Valle and Colegio Antares. Liceo Naval Quito and "Émile Jaques-Dalcroze" High School are also here. "Émile Jaques-Dalcroze" High School offers special programs. These include the International Baccalaureate and Cambridge English exams.
Sangolquí is also known for its sports. It is home to the football club Independiente del Valle. This team has been very successful. They reached the final of the 2016 Copa Libertadores in 2016. They also won the Copa Sudamericana in 2019 and again in 2022.
In 2020, Sangolquí received a special title. The Ecuadorian Ministry of Tourism named it a Pueblo Mágico. This means "Magical Town" in Spanish. It recognizes Sangolquí as a charming and special place to visit.

Sangolquí has a pleasant climate throughout the year. The weather here is mild, meaning it's not too hot or too cold. This is because the town is located high up in the mountains.
