What is a Santa Fe Grande Pepper?
Santa Fe Grande peppers are shaped like a cone with a rounded tip. They are usually about 2 in (5.1 cm) long. When they are young, they start out a light yellow color. As they get older and ripen, they turn a bright orange or even a fiery red.
Where Do They Grow?
These peppers grow upright on plants that are about 24 inches (60 cm) tall. The Santa Fe Grande pepper has a slightly sweet taste. It's also fairly mild, meaning it's not super spicy. If you've heard of Fresno chile peppers, they are actually a type of Santa Fe Grande pepper!
Uses for Santa Fe Grande Peppers
Because they are mild and have a nice flavor, Santa Fe Grande peppers are often used in cooking. They are popular in the Southwestern United States, especially in Mexican cuisine and New Mexican cuisine. You can use them in salsas, stews, or even just roasted as a side dish. They add a little bit of warmth and flavor without being too hot for most people.
