Santiago de Chuco is a city located in Peru. It's the main city, or capital, of the Santiago de Chuco Province within the La Libertad Region. The city is known for its beautiful views and rich history.

History of Santiago de Chuco
The city of Santiago de Chuco has a long and interesting past. On July 23, 1553, a special permission was given to start a new town here. This town was meant to be a central place for mining and growing wheat.
Several important people helped found the town. These included Captain Don Diego de la Serna and immigrants like Domingo Perez Vasquez and Jose Pelaez. They arrived in an area called Andaymarca. They were helped by a native person from Santiago de Compostela. This person helped them choose Saint James the "Greatest" (Santiago el Mayor) as the special protector of their new town.
