After her marriage, Sarah Ann began her photography work. Between 1864 and 1871, she ran her own studio. Her studio was located at 74, Strada della Marina, Isola. This area is now known as Senglea in Malta.

Sarah Ann Harrison is considered a pioneer. She was the first woman to run her own photography studio in Malta. This was a big achievement for women at that time.
