Sarah Hassan, O.G.W. (born 5 September 1988) is a talented Kenyan actress, producer, director, and former TV host. She is well-known for her roles in popular television shows like Crime and Justice, Tahidi High, The Wedding Show, and Zora. Sarah has also starred in films such as the romantic comedy Plan B and Family Vacation. She also features in DSTv's show, Zari, as Nina.
Sarah Hassan has received many awards for her work. These include Best Actress for the short film Now That You're Here (2014) and Best TV Host for Discovery+ 254 (2014) at the Kalasha Awards. She was also named Best East African Journalist (2015) at the Swahili Fashion Week. She won Best Actress again at the Kalasha Awards in 2019 for Plan B and in 2021 for Crime and Justice. In 2022, she became a Brand Ambassador for OPPO's Reno 8 phone series. Currently, she is the Brand Ambassador for Dettol Skincare. In December 2024, she received a special Presidential Award, the Order of the Grand Warrior (O.G.W) of Kenya, for her great work in the film industry.

Early Life and Education
Sarah Hassan was born on September 5, 1988, in Mombasa, Kenya. She is the only child of her parents. Sarah started acting when she was very young, at just five years old.
For her high school education, she attended Machakos Girls' High School. Later, she went to Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology. There, she studied Actuarial Science. In 2016, she continued her studies in Television and Film at the famous New York Film Academy.
Acting and Hosting Career
Sarah Hassan began her television career in 2009. She played the character Tanya in the Kenyan high-school drama series Tahidi High. She quickly became one of the main characters in the show.
After Tahidi High, Sarah starred in several other TV series. These included Demigods, Saints, and Changes. She also hosted Sakata Mashariki, a dance show for East Africa. In 2013, she became the main host of The Wedding Show, a role she held until December 2014.
Producing and Directing Work
Sarah Hassan is not just an actress; she is also a talented producer and director. She was a lead producer for the film 40 Sticks, which won many awards.
Through her own company, Alfajiri Productions, she has produced several projects. These include the film Plan B in 2019, a short film called Reflections, and Just In Time. In 2018, while she was in Los Angeles, she also wrote, directed, and produced her own film, The Company You Keep.
In August 2024, Netflix released Family Vacation. This Kenyan drama was co-directed by Voline Ogutu and Edwin Kamau. In the film, Sarah Hassan stars as an internet influencer who tries to save her marriage and family.
Besides her work in film and TV, Sarah is also a brand ambassador for several Kenyan fashion companies. She currently lives in Nairobi, Kenya.
