Early Life and Education
Sarah Thyre grew up in a large family. She was the second of five children. Her family lived in Kansas City and Louisiana. After her parents separated, Sarah and her four siblings lived with their mother. Sarah later studied journalism at Montclair State University. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the university.
Personal Life and Writing
Sarah Thyre wrote a book about her childhood. It is called Dark at the Roots. The book was published by Counterpoint.
In 1994, Sarah Thyre married comedian and TV personality Andy Richter. They had two children together. Their son was born in 2000, and their daughter was born in 2005. Sarah and Andy divorced in 2019.
