Sarahmée Ouellet, known simply as Sarahmée, is a talented rapper from Quebec, Canada. She was born in 1988 in Dakar, Senegal. Sarahmée is famous for her powerful music and engaging performances. She is also the sister of the well-known singer-songwriter Karim Ouellet.
Her Musical Journey
Sarahmée began her music career by releasing two shorter music collections, called EPs. These were Retox in 2011 and Sans détour in 2013. Her first full-length album, Légitime, came out in 2015. She continued to create new music, releasing her album Irréversible in 2019.
Awards and Recognition
Sarahmée's hard work and talent have earned her several important recognitions. In 2019, her song "T'as pas cru" was chosen as a finalist for the SOCAN Songwriting Prize. This award celebrates great songwriting. Also in 2019, she was nominated for "Revelation of the Year" at the Gala de l'ADISQ, which is a big music awards show in Quebec.
Her music video for the song "Bun Dem" was also recognized. Directed by Caraz, this video was nominated for "Video of the Year" at the Juno Awards of 2020. The Juno Awards are Canada's biggest music awards.
