Sasthipada Chattopadhyay (born March 9, 1941 – died March 3, 2023) was a famous Indian writer. He wrote many novels and short stories in the Bengali language. He is especially known for his exciting detective series called Pandab Goenda, which became very popular in Bengali literature.

About Sasthipada Chattopadhyay

Sasthipada Chattopadhyay was born on March 9, 1941, in a place called Khurut, in the Howrah district of India. He started his writing journey early. His very first story, Kamakhya Bhraman, was published in a newspaper called Dainik Basumati in 1961.

He later worked for a well-known newspaper, Anandabazar Patrika. He learned a lot from famous writers like Ramapada Chowdhury and Sagarmoy Ghosh there. He also worked for the Rabibasoryo section of Anandabazar. At one point, he joined the Indian Railway and was posted in a town called Ghatshila.

His Amazing Stories

Sasthipada Chattopadhyay wrote many different kinds of stories. He wrote novels, travel stories, and short stories. But he became super famous for creating the Pandab Goenda series. This series is about a group of young detectives who go on thrilling adventures. Kids and teens loved these stories, and they even became an animated TV show!

He loved to travel and explore new places. These adventures often gave him ideas for his stories. Many of his books are filled with exciting journeys and discoveries.

Sasthipada Chattopadhyay also created two other popular detective series. One was about a detective named Ambar Chatterjee. The other was about a young detective called Goenda Tatar. He wrote hundreds of detective and adventure stories. The story of Tatar was even made into a movie called Goyenda Tatar in 2019.

Awards and Recognition

Sasthipada Chattopadhyay received an important award in 2017. It was called the Bal Sahitya Puraskar. The Sahitya Akademi gave him this award. He earned it because of his great contributions to children's literature in Bengali. This award showed how much his stories meant to young readers.
