Satin is a small, unincorporated community in Falls County, Texas, United States. It is located about four miles from Chilton. You can find Satin in the northern part of the county, right on Farm to Market Road 434.

History of Satin, Texas

Satin began its story in 1872. It started when a sawmill was built near a place called Cow Bayou.

How Satin Grew

The community grew bigger when the San Antonio and Aransas Pass Railway laid down train tracks there. This happened between 1889 and 1892. More people came to live and work in the area.

What Was Satin Called Before?

Before it was named Satin, the town had other names. It was known as Laguna and also Cedar Point.

Where Did the Name "Satin" Come From?

The name "Satin" is thought to have come from a railroad employee. A post office was opened in 1917, and it's still working today!

Population Changes Over Time

Satin's population reached its highest point in 1931, with 200 residents. After that, the number of people living there slowly went down. By the year 2000, only 86 people lived in Satin.
