Satoshi Tezuka (born September 4, 1958) is a famous Japanese football player and manager. He was a forward, which means he played at the front of the field to score goals. Tezuka played for the Japanese national team and also managed several football clubs.
Playing Career: Club Success
Satoshi Tezuka was born in Tochigi Prefecture, Japan. He started playing football at a young age. After finishing his studies at Chuo University, he joined a professional football club called Fujita Industries in 1981.
His first year with Fujita Industries was very successful. The team won the league championship in 1981. Tezuka played for this club for ten years. He played in 167 games and scored 42 goals. He retired from playing football in 1991.
Playing Career: National Team
Tezuka also played for his country, Japan. He made his first appearance for the Japanese national team on June 11, 1980. This was when he was still a student at Chuo University. His first game was against the Chinese national team.
He represented Japan in important international competitions. These included the 1986 World Cup qualification matches. He also played in the 1986 Asian Games. His last games for Japan were during the 1988 Summer Olympics qualification. In total, he played 25 games for Japan and scored 2 goals.
Coaching Career
After he stopped playing, Tezuka started a new career as a coach. He began coaching at his old club, Fujita Industries, in 1991. The club later changed its name to Bellmare Hiratsuka and then Shonan Bellmare.
In 2003, he moved to coach at Mito HollyHock. Two years later, in 2005, he became the manager for Thespa Kusatsu. A manager is like the head coach of a team.
From 2007 to 2009, he managed Fagiano Okayama. He helped this team achieve great things. Under his leadership, Fagiano Okayama moved up to the Japan Football League in 2008. The next year, in 2009, they were promoted again to the J2 League, which is a higher professional league.
His last coaching role was with Fukushima United FC. He managed this team from 2010 until 2011.
