Saturday Breakfast was a popular morning TV show in New Zealand. It was a news and talk show that aired every Saturday morning from 7 AM to 9 AM. The show started on September 3, 2011, and its last episode was on December 15, 2012. You could watch it on TV One. This show was based on the weekday program called Breakfast.

Who Hosted the Show?

The show had different people hosting it during its time on air.

Main Hosts

  • Tāmati Coffey and Nadine Chalmers-Ross (in 2012)
  • Tāmati Coffey and Toni Street (in 2012)
  • Rawdon Christie and Toni Street (from 2011 to 2012)

What Was the Show Like?

Saturday Breakfast had a mix of serious news and fun segments.

News, Sport, and Weather

Every half hour, between 7:00 AM and 8:30 AM, the show would give a 10-minute update. This update included the latest news, sports results, and weather forecasts. Brooke Dobson was the person who presented the news. Sam Wallace presented the weather, often from different places around New Zealand where interesting events were happening.

Interviews and Fun Segments

The show often featured interviews with people who were making headlines. They also talked to reporters from TVNZ, which is the TV network. The rest of the show was filled with entertaining and light-hearted segments. These parts of the show were usually presented by Toni Street and Tāmati Coffey.

Why Did the Show End?

Saturday Breakfast was cancelled by TVNZ because it wasn't making enough money to continue. A big reason for this was that a main sponsor, Lotteries New Zealand, stopped supporting the show.

The very last episode of Saturday Breakfast was broadcast on December 15, 2012. Around the same time, one of the hosts, Tāmati Coffey, left TVNZ to travel overseas. Sam Wallace, who did the weather for the Saturday show, then became the weather reporter for the weekday Breakfast show. Nadine Chalmers-Ross continued her role as the business host on the weekday show. Brooke Dobson also stayed with TVNZ, mainly working as a reporter in Auckland.
