Sault-au-Récollet (which means "Recollet Rapids" in English) is a cool neighbourhood in Montreal, Canada. You can find it on the eastern side of the Ahuntsic-Cartierville area. It sits right next to the Rivière des Prairies river. A big road called Autoroute 19 connects it to the city of Laval.
This neighbourhood is very special! In 1992, the city of Montreal named it a "heritage site." This means it has important history and buildings that need to be protected.

Historic Buildings and Landmarks
Sault-au-Récollet is home to some very old and important buildings. These structures tell us a lot about the past of Montreal.
The Oldest Church
The Church of the Visitation is located in Sault-au-Récollet. It is the oldest church on the entire Island of Montreal. Workers built this church a long time ago, between 1749 and 1752. That makes it over 270 years old!
Growing the Neighbourhood
Sault-au-Récollet used to be a "streetcar suburb." This means people could easily get around using streetcars. In 1918, it became part of the Montreal area called Ahuntsic-Bordeaux.
After that, a lot of new homes were built. This "housing boom" happened mostly in the 1940s and 1950s. Many of these new homes were "multiplexes," which are buildings with several apartments inside.
