Why the Name Changed

In 1998, there was a disagreement about the name 'Chanel' used by the vineyard. A well-known company called Chanel cosmetics had a similar name. To avoid a long and expensive argument, the Ballard family decided to change the vineyard's name slightly. They added a hyphen and changed it to Savannah–Chanelle Vineyards. Wines with this new name first appeared in 1999. It's interesting to know that the grapevines and the winery building have been on this same hill for over 100 years!

Amazing Wines from Old Vines

Savannah–Chanelle Vineyards is famous for its Pinot noir wines. These wines are made from grapes grown right at the vineyard and also from other local farms. They also make award-winning Zinfandel wines. These Zinfandel wines are special because they come from very old vines planted way back in 1910! These are the oldest Zinfandel vines still growing in California.

The vineyard also grows other types of grapes. They have Cabernet Franc vines planted in 1920. They also produce Port wine, Chardonnay, and several other kinds of wine.
