Savannah Cristina is an American singer. She grew up in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. In 2019, she became very well known. This happened after a video of her singing "Self Care" on YouTube went viral. In 2020, she released her first big album, also called Self Care, with Warner Records.

Early Life

Savannah Cristina was born in Miami, Florida. Her father was African American and her mother was from the Dominican Republic. When she was six years old, her family moved to Fort Lauderdale.

In 2019, she shared how her community helped her grow. She said her church, school, and the Boys & Girls Club were very important. She also mentioned poetry teachers who helped her with her art. All these people helped her become who she is today.

Savannah Cristina went to Stranahan High School. Later, she graduated from Florida International University. She earned a degree in political science, which is the study of how governments work.

Music Career

Savannah Cristina started singing in church. She also performed at local community events. She found her love for music in second grade. Her choir teacher told her she had a special gift.

In high school, she started a poetry club. She took part in poetry competitions. She studied famous performers like Aja Monet. In April 2016, she worked with a company called TheNuMiami. They released her first song, "Spend It on Me," on SoundCloud.

After releasing her Self Care album, Savannah Cristina decided to work independently. This meant she could keep control over her music. In 2021, she went on her own tour to eight cities. She paid for the tour herself. After selling out shows in cities like Washington D.C. and Atlanta, she felt inspired. She went back to the studio to make more music for her fans.

Early Albums

In 2017, she released an album called Mango Season. She said the title was inspired by the mango trees in Fort Lauderdale. These trees bloom every summer. The next year, she released Florida Girl.

She also worked with other artists from South Florida. These included Twelve’Len, ¡Mayday!, and Ice Billion Berg. She sang background vocals on a song for Denzel Curry's 2018 album, Ta13oo.

Viral Videos and Record Deal

In 2019, Savannah Cristina signed a record deal with Dollaz N Dealz. She started posting videos of herself singing in different places. She sang on a basketball court for her song "Rebound." She also sang at a busy street for "Belong to the Streets."

She wanted people to notice her music. She said she would go anywhere to get attention. She chose places from her childhood for these videos. The basketball court was where she played with her dad. The street was where she caught the bus to school.

Her "Self Care" video was filmed at a local beach. It became very popular and got millions of views. She said she made the video because she felt she was not taking care of herself. She felt she was ignoring her feelings and responsibilities to herself.

Warner Records noticed her after she released "What You Won't Do." They teamed up with her in January 2020. Together, they released her Self Care album on October 2, 2020.

In 2022, she released her song "Bad ... Energy" on her own. This song quickly became popular on TikTok and Instagram. It caught the eye of many famous people. Because of this, she joined a 16-city tour with Arin Ray in October 2022.

Music Style

Savannah Cristina describes her music as "soul therapy." She also calls her songs "pieces of my diary." She is inspired by artists like Beyoncé, Jill Scott, Erykah Badu, PartyNextDoor, and Lauryn Hill.

She explained that music is a way for her to talk about her feelings. She said she is usually a private person. She doesn't like to talk about what's wrong or about herself much. But in music, she can be very open and emotional. Even if it feels embarrassing, she feels she has to do it.
