Savant Young's Fighting Career
Savant Young had his first professional fight in 1998. In June 2006, he decided to train for mixed martial arts full-time. This meant he would focus completely on his fighting career.
Early Fights and IFL Success
In February 2007, Savant won his first fight in the IFL. He beat Ed West by a "unanimous decision." This means all the judges agreed that Savant won the fight. He had a record of two wins and two losses in the IFL.
Big Wins and Challenges
After his time in the IFL, Savant got a chance to fight Takeshi Inoue in Japan. Takeshi was expected to win, but Savant surprised everyone. He won the fight by unanimous decision, which was a big upset. This important win helped him get a contract with a new fighting group called Affliction.
Savant fought at Affliction's first event, called "Affliction: Banned." He lost this fight in the second round to Mark Hominick. Mark won by using an "armbar," which is a type of submission hold that can make an opponent give up.
