Sayacmarca is an amazing ancient site in Peru. It was built by the Inca people a very long time ago. You can find it high up in the mountains of the Cusco Region. It's in a special area called the Urubamba Province, near the famous Machu Picchu.

This old settlement is located southwest of another interesting Inca site called Runkuraqay. It's also southeast of Phuyupatamarka and Qunchamarka. Imagine walking through these ancient paths!

Who Explored Sayacmarca?

A famous explorer named Hiram Bingham III visited Sayacmarca in April 1915. He was the person who brought Machu Picchu to the world's attention. When he first saw Sayacmarca, he called it "Cedrobamba." This name means "cedar plain," because of the trees he saw there.

Sayacmarca is a great example of the incredible building skills of the Inca people. It shows how they lived and built their homes high in the mountains.
